Criss Cross Sweet 16 & LSC SCS Challenge

My first try in making a vertical criss cross card. I was stuck to the usual horizontal criss cross, but thought I'd try to make it the "long" way. Not long in tutorial long, but long as in shape. It is very easy to make...I thought it would be more challenging, but it was just the same. I like the "MOD" look to it with the black & white squares followed by white buttons. I made this card for my cousin who turned 16 yrs. old last week. I know, I'm late, but better late than never.

Supplies Used:
CS: Basic Black & Whisper White
DP: Retro Squares by unknown (bought a pack in Target a loooong time ago)
Stamps: Elegant Greetings
Embellishments: Buttons by unknown (just using my forgotten stash)
Others: Corner Rounder punch & Tab punch from SU.


This is for the LSC136 challenge for SCS. I'm not quite happy with it as I couldn't stamp an image, ONLY a sentiment! The challenge was to use ONLY designer/patterned paper and NO stamped background. I got a card surge last night and broke out the patterned paper but went blank as to what sentiment to use. Upon trimming the PP and punching the circles and breaking out the rick-rack...this idea came to mind! I was first gonna pass the rick rack behind the sentiment, but it looked SO BORING...then when I started moving it around, I thought "A FLOWER!" and dug in to the ribbon box and broke out the Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon to make the stem and leaves. Much better than my original thought...still I'm not too happy.

Feliz Cumpleanos Madre! ~ Happy Birthday Mom!

Got up this morning to make this card for my mom who's birthday is today. She's turning 71 and is still a feisty one! This card was inspired by the clothing she wears. The fold overs are the shirt, then it has a "belt" and the rose broach! She still dresses pretty spiffy huh? LOL! Anyways, I was in a crazy rush yesterday that I didn't make a card, I couldn't even think let alone make a card I would be proud of. So this morning in a rush to make a card, I thought of this great card style. The tutorial to make a card like this is featured at SCS and you can find it HERE! It's called the "Criss Cross Card".

Wow....my Anti-Procrastination is paying off!

I can't believe my anti-procrastination "resolution" is paying off! These cards aren't due until 10/06 and I am so ready to mail them off!!! I am seriously besides myself! Hopefully I can keep it up so I wont do that last minute cards anymore. Phew....

I am loving Stampin' Up's designer paper. This one is called Creepy Crawly. I also combined a couple of Stampin' Up sets. The sets used are Autumn Apparitions (Happy Halloween), Party Punch (Happy Halloween Cat), & Priceless (both large & small swirls).



Also here I finished up this card for another swap hosted by Sonya called Pink & Black.



I really loved the outcome of this one. I hadn't used my "Swirly" wheels from Stampin' Up and thought I would combine it here. I stamped the Stipple Butterfly from Stampin' Up onto acetate sheet and used black fine detail embossing powder and trimmed closely around it. I used glue dots to "glue" it down and then added another glue dot to each wing and gave it a "lift" for dimension. The wheels are called: Baroque Border (the narrow one) & So Swirly (the wider one). A note about my wheels: I UN-MOUNT MINE! *gasp* I'm not a great roller, I can't roll to save my life, so I unmounted my wheels and use an acrylic block when I stamp. I'll post a tutorial later for those interested in unmounting their wheels.
