It's that time again...Saturday Challenge!

So my girl Melissa is hosting this round and even with what's going on here...I didn't want to miss out! So here is my creation for the challenge!

First let me tell you the challenge. Make a card OR an ABAC using the image provided called Shop Girl! She was a free digi stamp from Modern Sugar Boulevard. Once you've made your creation...head on over to SCS and tag it with the keyword BLOGC8! If you don't have an SCS gallery...post it on your blog and leave Melissa a comment letting her know.

I decided to make a mini magazine holder that can easily hold 1/4 sheets of DP or CS to have at hand or it also holds up to 6 A2 sized cards depending on the bulk. I used DP I hadn't used in a while now and even though I'm not all that happy with the outcome...I'm just distracted to make something WOW...so here it is! Hope you like! Oh...see the little owl peeking out? I'll be posting him next post I have a chance to make...he was from a challenge from Joani's Yuku group and MAN he's my favorite! It was a challenging swap/challenge for a contest. If you would like to make one of these mini magazine holders...check out my girl Joani's tutorial and just her blog in general...she makes awesome stuff! Also...give her group a looksie if you like to swap and make great friends! The group link is over there-----> on my sidebar. This is how I actually look once I've done some shopping at Target or Michaels! :)

Now head on over to see what Mel and Joni have concoted...I'm sure it's gonna be awesome!

Supplies:

CS/DP: PPie, Bright White, & Bungalow DP by Marcella K.

Ink: Copics

Stamps: Digi stamp Shop Girl

Embellishments: dimensional flowers in Bungalow by Marcella K. & net fiber(?)

Others: eyelet edge punch

Hugs,

Gabby

P.S. Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers. The big guy must be listening because mom is a bit better. Still in the hospital but in great hands. I'll post another update as soon as I know more on her condition. You guys have no idea how much your comments of thought and prayers really mean to me. Love you all for that!

WOO HOO...a very special Saturday Blog Challenge! Are you up for it?

Ok...so what's so special about THIS Saturday? WELL...we have Maria Bell (shreeks) as one of the guest judges!!! WHAT??? How cool of Maria to accept being guest judge...she is not just a great friend...but OMG her talent is AMAZING!!! I'm lucky enough to own a few pieces of her work too! Well...again...how cool of her to accept?

Joni is hosting this Saturday challenge and it's a good one...a sketch by none other than Maria! I hope I did it justice! It's a bit busy...but I don't know...I like somewhat busy cards! I know I know...not everyone likes to fry their brain on elements overload...but it's nice to fry your brain once in a while...NO? Maybe it's just me...lol. Anywho...since I LOVE monkeys...I had to use this ADORABLE digi stamp created by the awesome artist Dustin Pike! If you haven't seen his digi stamps...OMG you're missing out on a treat! He's so fabulous...he has offered up some of his images...FOR FREE!!! Get out of here...who does that with awesome images? So go ahead and create a card using the sketch provided and then upload your card to SCS with the keyword BLOGC7! Then Joni will announce the winner next Saturday, April 18th!

Now go and check out what Joni and Melissa made! I'm sure it's gonna be awesome!

The image background came to be by accident...and I'm glad I messed up and made that little accident! What I wanted to do was just outline the image and "shadow" it like CandiceL from SCS does...well...it didn't turn out exactly like how I had envisioned it...so I ended up just coloring in the background! When I was done I did a 'hand to forehead' slap because I could have used the Air Brush can! I sometimes wonder if these things only happen to me...lol. So then when I was putting the card together...I thought it was too blue around the monkey and decided I would go in with a dauber and add some green under him to make it look like there's some grass below him. Whatcha think?

My mommy is home & Blog Challenge WINNER!

She and I want to thank you very much for your prayers. She's feeling much better but of course still sore. Poor thing is all bruised up from her back and left arm...but it's better than her to have had something way more serious. Turns out the anesthesia interacted with some Vicodin she took for her pain...that's what made her so dizzy to cause her to fall. This means now I can sleep...lol. She does have to go back to get another X-ray...but from the looks of it...she's feeling a bit more strong because she's walking around. Limited...but walking. SOOOO...thank you VERY much for your prayers. Look at this trooper! LOL! She even decided to "strike a pose" for her pic! How cute is my mommy? LOL! My daddy is one happy camper now that she's home. It's cute how they both missed each other! She told us she had a dream about him and was talking in her sleep and that the attending nurse had to laugh because she said "honey...let me sleep" in spanish...honey refering to my dad...lol. Here is just a random pic I took from her room while we waited for the guy with the wheelchair to take her down...or her taxi as she said...lol.

HUGS!!!

Super Saturday Challenge!

Sorry for my lateness...and not to mention absence. I've been in a funk and well...my crafting mojo disappears with my funk! UGH! It's coming back some! After a nice visit with my uncle and seeing and hearing what he's been thru with now being a cancer survivor 3 years and running after being told he ONLY had 3 to 6 months to live...well...my "issues" pale in comparison! So after crying with him and then just cracking up because my mom is such the jokester...I'm feeling a lighter shade of blue! *wink*

So today is Saturday...if you didn't know that yet...WAKE UP! LOL! So I ALMOST missed my post for Melissa's turn to host the Saturday Super Challenge! DANG was it a challenge...in a few ways too! First...Mel's challenge was to use a sketch courtesy of sketchlovers.com! I am SOOOO not good AT ALL when making my images at a slant so that's challenge #1! Challenge #2...coming out of my funk! Challenge #3...my coloring hand is in a splint because my CT is acting up again! Challenge #4...LV double dog dared me to use her Copics to make my card! DANG...I can't believe I survived it! LOL! So...alas...here is my sad and pathetic attempt at Mel's sketch challenge!

So...how's this for Miss Independent? Sophie doesn't miss her man away working his butt off...lol...looks like me...except I would be at a desk stamping...lol!!! Sophie is the Real Housewife of the Forest!
Check out what Mel & Joni made! They kicked butt with it! And I have to say I am so proud I even wiped a tear away! Melissa used her new Prismacolor Markers for the challenge and all thanks to my pushing Prismas...lol! High five chica!
POST EDIT: OMG I am seriously loosing it! I forgot to say that I hope you participate in this challenge! If and when you do...upload your card to SCS using the keyword BLOGC5! Then leave a comment letting Mel know! :)

Saturday Challenge~Emotional Baggage!

No...it's not me whining about my family...lol...it's actually what Joni called her challenge this Saturday! LOL! Her challenge is to use ANY bag as inspiration for a card. Check out what Joni & Melissa made! Then make a card and head on over to SCS and upload your card with the keywords BLOGC4 so can check 'em out!

Here is my card...and mind you I'm in a funk so who I am and my style didn't really come off in this card. I'm so stuck on LV's tweeny stuff right now it's SICK! I'll snap out of it soon...but in the meanwhile...check out my entry! I used my "CAN NEVER GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT" Kathy Van Zeeland purse. I LOVE this purse SO much! It's all old and slumpy now...but it carries ALL I really need in there! I stamped NOTHING on this card! I used only rub-ons and stickers. Of course I embellished it with some ribbon and charms...but that's it...pretty plain and basic I guess. Hope you like!

Supplies:
CS/DP: CChip, C2Cocoa, & Vanilla Bling (?) Bazzil Bling
Ink: NONE
Stamps: NONE
Embellishments: tiara charm, sheer silver ribbon, & flat back bling
Others: rub ons Forever In Time Vintage Classics & stickers MAMBI

Yup...it's that time again! This time...Melissa of Stamp It, Scrap It Share It is hosting! Her challenge it to make a card using 3 Cuttlebug embossing folders (the minimum)...without getting too gaudy! Now that's a challenge! I had a really hard time coming up with something because the most I've done is 2 CB embossing folders...lol. BUT...in the end...I got it done! I don't know if I'm too happy with it because it's not really me...but then again...I am challenging myself on this.

Remember...to enter your cards, just follow that simple guideline posted on Melissa's blog and then upload it to Splitcoast Stampers with the keyword she's provided. The keyword for this challenge is BLOGC2.

Here is my sample for this Saturday's challenge! OH OH OH...before I go on...I am super stoked because I am now the HAPPY owner on the Sizzix Bigz Top Note die!!! I've seen MANY awesome creations made with this die and I was just drooling for it....ok...moving on! Keeping true to my New Year resolution...I have dug deep into my stash of stamps and dug out Paper Trey Ink's Out on a Limb set!!! I've been so into coloring that I've put aside all my non coloring stamps! So once again...I dug it back out! I don't know if I'm just crazy...but I can hear them whimpering! :O So...here we go...here is my card using 3 embossing folders. I used Swiss Dots, Script, & Textile. Special Challenge Saturday!!!

Hosted by the awesome Joni at A Sticky Situation! As you can see from yesterday's post...I jumped the gun early! Normally around this time I'm being "occupied" by my mom...but I guess I get a break! Anywho...Joni's challenge is to create a card using the colors of your character of choice. Check out her blog for more deets and how to join in on the fun...winner will get a prize! I chose Sylvester The Cat! Lately I've been using red, white, and black a lot for my creations! I wonder if it has to do with the Twilight series? I hope I'm not disqualified for using some gold! YIKES!

Ok...on to the card for the challenge...lol! I used no other than the precious Geisha Anya (a digital stamp) from The Greeting Farm! I have always loved the Asian look...so I had to out-do myself! This card took me almost 3 hours to put together from beginning to end! WOW...a long time to sit...but worth it in the end! The card measures 9X4! I made 2 copies of Geisha to give some dimension to her kimono & flower! Can you believe I made the hair "pins" from toothpicks and colored them with a black Prisma marker??? How's that for using what you got...in the kitchen! LOL! The scroll was made using bamboo skewers! They're not for meat or veggies anymore! And how cool is that DP? The black is flocked!!! It feels so soft! I also used something else from my forgotten stuff...you see the tiny gold grains on the kimono belt (don't exactly know what they're called)? I had gotten that as a gift about 2 years ago!!! I keep opening boxes and keep finding stuff from EONS ago! Good thing I'm sticking to my resolution...well...at least this one! *rolls eyes* The smaller flowers are punched using Marvy Uchida punches. I don't know if you can tell on her face make-up...but I made it white using a milky white gel pen!!! LOL! I couldn't find my chalks! What I did was that I colored in her face with the gel pen little by little and "dabbed" it on using a Q-tip! I think that's what took the longest aside from the headware! Ahhh...I also used some "dusty" stamps from In Joy Rubber Stamps called Chinese Wishes. I hadn't used that in like 2 years as well! *puts head down* Anya was colored using Prismacolor markers. I plan on framing this card! Whatcha think?

Check out what Joni and Melissa made!

Prismacolor markers used:

Supplies:
CS/DP: RHRed, BBlack, Bright White, & MAMBI DP Black & White-Butterfly
Ink: BBlack & Prismas
Stamps: Digital Geisha Anya & Chinese Wishes IJRS
Embellishments: gold foil stickers, flat back pearls, & brad
Others: ticket notch corner punch, bamboo skewers & toothpick

Hugs,
Gabby
