Saturday Super Challenge

NOTE: for today, tomorrow, and Monday...this will be on auto pilot since I'm partying the weekend away because of my birthday on Monday! SWEET 32 to me!!!

Yup...it's that time again! This time...Melissa of Stamp It, Scrap It Share It is hosting! Her challenge it to make a card using 3 Cuttlebug embossing folders (the minimum)...without getting too gaudy! Now that's a challenge! I had a really hard time coming up with something because the most I've done is 2 CB embossing folders...lol. BUT...in the end...I got it done! I don't know if I'm too happy with it because it's not really me...but then again...I am challenging myself on this.

Remember...to enter your cards, just follow that simple guideline posted on Melissa's blog and then upload it to Splitcoast Stampers with the keyword she's provided. The keyword for this challenge is BLOGC2.

Here is my sample for this Saturday's challenge! OH OH OH...before I go on...I am super stoked because I am now the HAPPY owner on the Sizzix Bigz Top Note die!!! I've seen MANY awesome creations made with this die and I was just drooling for it....ok...moving on! Keeping true to my New Year resolution...I have dug deep into my stash of stamps and dug out Paper Trey Ink's Out on a Limb set!!! I've been so into coloring that I've put aside all my non coloring stamps! So once again...I dug it back out! I don't know if I'm just crazy...but I can hear them whimpering! :O So...here we go...here is my card using 3 embossing folders. I used Swiss Dots, Script, & Textile. Oh and guess what...all of this CS...was in my scraps pile!!! :O
Check out what Melissa & Joni made!

Supplies:
CS/DP: RRed, BBlack, KKiss, CChip, & VVanilla
Ink: BBlack, CChip, KKiss, & RRed

Michelle Zindorf ROCKS!

Oh yeah...I once again made a Zindorf original...only mine isn't ANYWHERE near as awesome as hers. When I recieved her email one morning and saw this card...I was in love with it! Time went by and I never recreated it although it was on my to do list. Well...finally came the time I decided it was NOW! I joined a swap on SCS hosted by the awesome DJ...cherthosestamps. It's for music fans...well duh...I LOVE music! I was stuck on ideas and wanted to get out of the norm...so what way to not be norm and go the Zindorf way! Her creations are genious it's hard not to try and recreate her art. I changed some colors around...the stamps...and the card size...and all in all...I'm a happy camper! Sponging 6 cards made my hand hurt...but it was so worth it in the end! It took me 4 months to finally put this CASE onto paper and now...I DON'T WANT TO SWAP THEM OUT...LOL! But it's DJ's first swap she's hosting...and she's worth it. ;) So...be honest! What do YOU think?

Check out my fingers after just 1 card...lol!

Supplies:
CS/DP: BBlack, BGray, PPoint, & Bright White
Ink: BBlack, NQNavy, PPoint, SSky, GGray, & Prismas in Walnut, Jet Black, Cinammon Toast, & Cool Grey 20%

Starbucks Obsessed?

Well...yes! I need to have my Sbux daily or I'm a mad woman! Really...I am! I think it's kicking the butt (cigarette that is) that's now got me hooked on the Bux! But I think this is better than the nicotine...right? Anywho...here I made these ATC's for a swap on SCS hosted by one of my all time crazy @$$ favorite Ho's...Kelli Jo! :P It's funny because it also coincides (how ever you spell that...lol) with the challenge Jessica (Knutsen on SCS) of There She Goes posted! Man...these stamps are awesome! Check her out! I have a link on the sidebar on where to drop some $bucks$! So worth it! I placed my second order last night and can't wait to play with my new stamps. I also can't wait for the release! :D

I hadn't made ATC's in a good minute...so it was pretty cool to break out of the cards. Now to create my second set of ATC's! To the thinking chamber...BUM BUM BUM! :P

Bombshell Stamps Candy Contest!!!

Yup...the time is here! Bombshell Stamps is having a yummy candy contest! What's the happs? Well...here you go!

The Contest guidelines are as follows:

Creat a card, layout or altered item...but it must have a Bombshell Stamp somewhere (just in time to use your coupon if you don't have any yet...check over there-----> to see how you can get 20% off your next purchase!) and rhinestones or pearls, use either a heart, or broken-heart, and a ribbon. It can be a Valentine or an anti-Valentine, whatevs gets you rolling!

Get funky and creative!!! We want to see what great bombshells we have out there letting go and unleashing their inner bombshell. The contest will end Feb 18th so you have plenty of time to order with your 20% off coupon and get your stamps just in time to create.

The winner will be picked at random by a random generator!
All entries must be tagged BSSVC2009 to be entered into the drawing and slideshow. If you have any questions just let the Hostess Bombshell know...the awesome Jan @ Bombshell Stamps @ PCP! She's there to help you have fun and enjoy the site.

What's up for grabs...check it out!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is what I made as a sample to get your creative juices flowing!!! Come on...wouldn't you want a chance to win that awesome set?
Here I used this votive novena candle since we go thru these like babies go thru diapers. We are the crazy catholics who light candles for everything...graduations, babies, Nacho going to prison...lol...yes...I KID YOU NOT!!! So we're really stocked up on these and I though they were too naked...so why not give it a coat? Pretty cool huh? *wink* You know you want a candle like this! Why? Because you can slip the coat right off!!! You don't have to throw it away when the candle is done because all you have to do is grab another candle and dress it! Nothing uglier than a nekkid candle! :S LOL!
I've been sticking true to my guns by using stuff I haven't used in ages...and here I used nothing BUT SCRAPS!!! Yup...all the CS and DP used for this was in my scraps pile! Naughty naughty Gabby!!! I also FINALLY decided I'd just use up my Pretties kit from SU. I mean...why buy it if I'm not gonna use it? The sticking withe the theme from the last challenge...I used playing cards! How cool I even incorporated stamps from another of my favorite companies...Hanna Stamps!!! I used Things Hanna Would Say! Here though I would say..."I'm melting for you!" LOL! What better sentiment than that since wax melts??? I could have printed out "Come on baby light my fire" or "I'm hot for you"...but I RAN OUT OF INK! :'( LOL! Still...I think it went well! Whatcha think?
Still haven't convinced ya? What's a girl gotta do? If you're interested...let me know and I'll work on a tutorial! *wink*
Featured Stamper of the Day is...
None other than my OWN LITTLE GIRL...Lizzie! LOL! She told me..."mom...are you gonna show your friends my cards so they can see how pretty they are?" LOL! So of course...I have to feature her! These are 3 X 3 cards she made for a swap on SCS. The swap is hosted by a dear friend and fellow Ho...Lisa AKA wildbasket! The swap is for those who are pet lovers. We sure are...we have a cat named Bubba, 2 cockatiels named Paquito and Lucy, and 2 budgies named Edward and Bella! Lizzie picked everything from the CS colors to the ribbon...to the image. She said it looks like Bubba when we found him in the clothing hamper...lol! Talk about attention to details...lol. Look at how attentive she looks!
Here are our fur and winged babies! In order of appearance: Bubba, Paquito, Lucy, Edward & Bella.
Finally...my FAB FIVE!
After long thought who I wanted to reward with the fabulous awards Joani awarded me with...I wanted to make sure I was giving them to the right 5 people. I have WAY more gals I could have given them to...but I wanted to make sure it was one of my new bloggin' gals! So with further a do...go to the award post HERE to see who I've awarded.
Hugs,
Gabby
Saturday Special Challenge WINNER!
Ok...Joni has the winner of last Saturday's Special Challenge! Check it out here! Also...stay tuned for Melissa's turn at hosting this Saturday Special Challenge! I'll update as soon as she's ready!
Next time will be my turn! YAY! Since the hostess gives the prize to the winner...I want some ideas from you. Post here as to what would be something fun to give as a prize. Stamped images, ribbon, embellishments...you get the idea!
Team Jacob? No way! Really?
Ha...I'm 99% Team Edward...so 1% of my heart belongs to Jacob! YES...my heart went out to him thru all the heartache he put himself into...but I'm still an Edward girl. I don't care if he freezes me to death or bites my feathered pillows and leaves me all bruised! *wink* I still had to give it up to Jacob. Plus...LV made me since she's doing Team Edward cards for my swap I'm hosting over at SCS. We wanted to keep it Swiss between the both of us! LOL! So what do you think? Do you think I captured the moment when he tells Bella in Eclipse that...and I quote, "The clouds I can handle. But I can't fight with an Eclipse." what a perfect quote right? The sky was brayered and sponged and the moon and eclipse were made using punched Post It's. First I masked the moon to sponge (after first light brayer) and then I used the negative for the eclipse. Do you think I made a good take on the quote? Oh...and surprise surprise...I DIDN'T USE PRISMAS!!! *GASP* No...you don't have to re-read it...I didn't use Prismas!!! LOL! Sentiment (or quote...duh) is printed.
Supplies:
CS/DP: CChip, SSky, PPoint, VVanilla, & Bright White
Ink: BBlack, SSky, BBreeze, NQNavy, & CChip
Stamps: Nature Silhouettes & Paw by Rubber Stampede
Embellishments: brads
Other: CB Script folder, brayer, & circle punch
Quit playing games!
And break out those playing cards! LOL! Raid your hubby's stuff...he may have some you can borrow! *wink*
Well...TGIF right? Man...this week went by fast for me. Time sure is flying! Last night I had some time to stamp a bit and make some projects for our Bombshell Stamps challenge over at PCP. The challenge was to make a project using playing cards or game pieces using at least ONE BSS and I came up with these! I haven't made a LO in a long time being I'm a digi scrapper...so it was nice to break out of the ord and try my hand once again at making a paper LO! What do you think? Isn't it perfect for that new 21 year old guy who knows how to party hardy and accept his "ruin"? LOL! At least that's what I think...lol. Have BSS? Hop on over to BSS @ PCP (http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/bombshellstamps) and give it a try! The challenge ends the 25th! Oh...and check out the hardware! I "borrowed" some washers to add to this page! TEE HEE!
Joe Jonas as Shane Gray
I bet you're wondering...WHAT??? Well...I made this card for LV just because. She LOVES Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. So when I saw this Dress Me Ian...I IMMEDIATELY saw Joe Jonas as Shane Gray in the movie Camp Rock. And she says I don't love her! HMPH! She was ALL giddy when I showed it to her! I hand drew the mic and colored his clothing JUST as he wears it in Camp Rock! Fun huh...just look at the pic below...doesn't it look like him??? LOL! I even made him his bushy eyebrows!!! Sentiment is printed. She said she's gonna post it over at the official JB fan club she belongs to. Knowing LV...she has something else in mind...$$$! LMAO! Now if only there were curly hair Ian (or friend) so I can help with LV's "thoughts" for the other Jonas bros...Kevin & Nick! Marie...if you read this...a curly hair guy...even if he's digi would be adorable! *wink* Just an idea!
Ok...I have plenty to do today...not to mention visit those who have visited me. I'm gonna try to do all that while managing a headache...UGH! But these are must do things...so I'm loading up on pain meds and I'll be ready to take on some stuff. Blogger has let us bloggers know that there is a scheduled outage today at 4:00 my time (PST)...so if you're not a blogger ON Blogger...now you know why...it's not my page! ;) See ya'll on the flip side!
Special Challenge Saturday!!!
Hosted by the awesome Joni at A Sticky Situation! As you can see from yesterday's post...I jumped the gun early! Normally around this time I'm being "occupied" by my mom...but I guess I get a break! Anywho...Joni's challenge is to create a card using the colors of your character of choice. Check out her blog for more deets and how to join in on the fun...winner will get a prize! I chose Sylvester The Cat! Lately I've been using red, white, and black a lot for my creations! I wonder if it has to do with the Twilight series? I hope I'm not disqualified for using some gold! YIKES!
Ok...on to the card for the challenge...lol! I used no other than the precious Geisha Anya (a digital stamp) from The Greeting Farm! I have always loved the Asian look...so I had to out-do myself! This card took me almost 3 hours to put together from beginning to end! WOW...a long time to sit...but worth it in the end! The card measures 9X4! I made 2 copies of Geisha to give some dimension to her kimono & flower! Can you believe I made the hair "pins" from toothpicks and colored them with a black Prisma marker??? How's that for using what you got...in the kitchen! LOL! The scroll was made using bamboo skewers! They're not for meat or veggies anymore! And how cool is that DP? The black is flocked!!! It feels so soft! I also used something else from my forgotten stuff...you see the tiny gold grains on the kimono belt (don't exactly know what they're called)? I had gotten that as a gift about 2 years ago!!! I keep opening boxes and keep finding stuff from EONS ago! Good thing I'm sticking to my resolution...well...at least this one! *rolls eyes* The smaller flowers are punched using Marvy Uchida punches. I don't know if you can tell on her face make-up...but I made it white using a milky white gel pen!!! LOL! I couldn't find my chalks! What I did was that I colored in her face with the gel pen little by little and "dabbed" it on using a Q-tip! I think that's what took the longest aside from the headware! Ahhh...I also used some "dusty" stamps from In Joy Rubber Stamps called Chinese Wishes. I hadn't used that in like 2 years as well! *puts head down* Anya was colored using Prismacolor markers. I plan on framing this card! Whatcha think?
Check out what Joni and Melissa made!
Prismacolor markers used:
Supplies:
CS/DP: RHRed, BBlack, Bright White, & MAMBI DP Black & White-Butterfly
Ink: BBlack & Prismas
Stamps: Digital Geisha Anya & Chinese Wishes IJRS
Embellishments: gold foil stickers, flat back pearls, & brad
Others: ticket notch corner punch, bamboo skewers & toothpick
Yes...I'm super excited to have been chosen by the wonderul Shannon to be part of Bombshell Stamps very first round of design team members! I hope to make her proud and inspire you to check out Bombshell Stamps. I'll be honest...after a bad year of not being picked up for other design teams...I was ready to give up! But as soon as I saw that Bombshell was having a DT call...I thought I'd give it a last shot just as I was about to give up...and WOW...I GOT IT!!! Ya'll know my love for tattoos and stamping...so I am SUPER STOKED to basically combine 2 of the things that make me in my life!!! Did you know BSS carries tattoo ink so you can now stamp on people not moving!!!??? How cool is that??? Ya'll know a stampers motto "If it aint moving...stamp it"...now you can!!! Check out the cool tatt I made on LV! ;) That's ink you don't have to regret! LOL!
Please...if you haven't done so...give Bombshell Stamps a look at their awesome stamps and their supplies. I KNOW there is something there that will appeal to you! Who doesn't like these pin-up chicks??? Even Hanna Stamps came out with a pin-up girl stamp!!! Shyeah! OH...and check this out...if you are the type to not like papers coming with your orders because it's really just a waste of a tree...at BSS you have the option of going green and saving a tree!!! How's that for going green?
Bookatrix!!!
WOW...I have not made one of these in a LONG time! I even forgot when was the last time I made one! LOL! These were all the rage back when I got my board, by the European. I saw beautiful creations being made and fell in love with the board and bought one on eBay! I don't make these as traditional as they're suppose to be...but I do add my own flair...lol. Here I made a wedding one just for fun...to get me back into using my "dusty" stuff. See...I told you I'm sticking with that resolution! ;) I'm not too happy with it...but it'll do I guess...lol.
Ink: BBlack
Stamps: Wedding/Marriage by Inkadinkado
Embellishments: paper flowers from various vendors, flat back pearls, chocolate ribbon, & VVanilla ribbon
Got Milk? AND COOKIES!!!
I DO I DO!!! Look at this NUMMY looking "Oreo" cookie! I HAD to nab the idea from the wonderful Melanie Muenchinger! If you haven't seen her cookie...OMG you are missing out on a treat...litteraly! Check out her cookie here! I don't have that Nestie...but I decided I'd try with my Giga scalloped punch...and IT WORKED! It took a while for the punch to actually punch thru...but alas...I got it done with some patience and even pressure. Now I know I have to invest in some new Nesties next time I have some extra $$$ to blow. Next time I'll try the other version though. And look...I made a milk carton too! It's ONLY a prototype since I haven't made these in such a long time...so I wanted to see if I still got it...lol. How cute would this be to give to the sweet cookie in your life. Fill up the milk carton with those mini cookies...HOW COOL right? I may have to make this for my DS's teacher! I can even have the cookie say "You are one" on the outside and "Smart cookie!" on the inside! LOL! LV wants me to make some cookie Valentines for her now...THANKS MEL! LOL! Great inspiration though...one so much fun to make! You really gotta check out her stuff if you don't already...OMIGOSH you will drool over her creations! Now that is what I can "Inspiration Central"! My new hero!
Copics VS Prismacolor Markers...I've been asked!
I have been asked numerous times what's the difference between Copics and Prismas! Well...I honestly don't know since I've never used Copics...I'm a faithful user of Prismas! Now don't go casting your stones...this is my personal choice. Thanks to THIS post from Maria Bell of Stamping Inspirations...I chose to go with Prismas. When it comes to shopping for quality coloring mediums...I try to get what's the best...but I'm also thrifty. Living in California is teaching me to save as much as I can...although sometimes I don't hear it when it comes to buying stamps...lol...but that's a whole different story! :P Basically...I've seen many times that there's not much of a difference between Copics and Prismas since they are both alcohol based...it just has to do how you use them...in other words...PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! So...you be the judge of what YOU think is best for you! As for me...I'm sticking with my Prismas! ;) Thanks! I hope this was helpful to you!
